Earlier today, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL announced Art Briles, the disgraced Baylor coach who was fired after it was revealed he may have covered up sexual assault by some of his football players, was being hired as its offensive coordinator.

Now, that hiring has been rescinded, says this article in the Washington Post.

A statement released by the CFL and the Tiger-Cats said Briles would not be joining the team as a coach and the decision was made following "lengthy discussions" between the league and the Hamilton organization.  The statement gives "best wishes to Briles on his future endeavors.

The announcement of the hiring,  which has since been retracted from the Tiger-Cats website, extolled Briles' coaching abilities without mentioning his disgraced past.  Later in the day, the CEO of the Hamilton team defended the hire, saying Briles was a good man who had made a mistake.

It's now obvious the Tiger-Cats were the ones making the mistake.
