The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns unveiled their 2015-16 product and the result was a big win at the Cajundome, as the Cajuns defeated an out-manned Louisiana College squad, 108-:68.

Devonta Walker led fie Cajuns in double figures with a double double, scoring 17 points and adding eleven rebounds.  Kasey Shepherd came off the bench to score 16 points, while Shawn Long added 14, Johnathon Stove chipped in 12 and newcomer Jay Hedgeman tallied ten.

The Cajuns (1-0) never trailed, scoring the first eight points of the game.  The Wildcats closed to within three points on a couple of occasions, but Louisiana took a double digit lead, 23-13 with 10:35 left in the first half and Louisiana College never got within single digits the rest of the way.  The Cajuns led 41-27 at the final media timeout before closing on a 14-2 run to take a 55-29 lead into the locker room.

In a season where physical play is a point of emphasis, the point was made as the officials called 38 fouls in the first half and the teams combined for 45 free throws.  Those numbers subsided in the second half, with 21 fouls and 20 free throws.

Louisiana shot 59.4% on 41-69 attempts from the floor and 37-44 from inside the three point line.  "We didn't shoot it well from the perimeter tonight, but we will," Coach Bob Marlin said.  "But when we drove the ball, we were really successful."

The Cajuns shot 68.8% from the free throw line, hitting on 22-32 attempts.  Louisiana College was 25-33.

Stove led the Cajuns with 23 minutes played, while Long and Bryce Washington played 20 minutes each.  Eleven of the 13 players that got into the game played double digit minutes.

Raheem Regis led Louisiana College with 22 points.  Anthony Gaines, Jr. added 12 points and Kevin Cottonham chipped in eleven as Louisiana College hit 21-57 from the floor (36.8%).

Louisiana will now travel to play Miami of the Atlantic Coast Conference this Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:05 CST.
