Head Coach Tony Robichaux and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team has announced their 2017 slate and, as usual, it will have its share of potential landmines along the way.

And, that's just the way Robichaux wants it.

"I like our schedule," Robichaux said of the slate which includes twenty games against teams that played in the postseason a year ago.

Included are three game non conference series at Sam Houston State, a participant in the NCAA Regionals in Lafayette back in June, a three game slate with Southern Mississippi, and Sun Belt series against South Alabama and National Champion Coastal Carolina.

The Cajuns will also play on three separate dates against Southeastern Louisiana, two games apiece with Tulane and Louisiana Tech, and single games against LSU and Houston.  Texas also appears on the schedule, as the Cajuns and Longhorns will meet at a neutral site in Sugar Land, Texas.

The season opens with the Cajuns playing in a tournament in Hammond with Southeastern, Murray State and Hofstra.  Because of renovations at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field, Robichaux has moved several of the mid-week "home and home" series to play on the road early.  This includes games against Nicholls, Northwestern State, Tulane and Louisiana Tech.

All of the Cajuns' home games are currently listed as TBD, with the date of completion of the renovations still unknown at this time.

"We understand the challenge we have.  But going on the road early will be good for us.  It will weather us for our tough competition down the stretch.

The Cajuns' Sun Belt home series will feature Appalachian State, South Alabama, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern and Texas State.  The 2017 SBC Tournament will be hosted by Georgia Southern and played in Statesboro.
