Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns got rained out last night....which gave them a chance to eat more Wheaties before heading to the softball field Friday morning.

Homers by Paige Cormier and Brianna Cherry along with a three run double by Matte Haack highlighted a seven run second inning as Louisiana advanced in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament by beating Western Kentucky via the mercy rule 12-1 at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, FL.

The Cajuns (48-3) led 1-0 in the first inning after executing a double steal, then chased WKU starter Emily Rousseau (15-14) with the big inning in the second.  Cormier led off with her 10th homer of the season to put the Cajuns up 2-0.  Later in the inning, Nerissa Myers knocked in a run with a bases loaded single and Haack delivered all three runners with a double to make the score 6-0.  Cherry then delivered Haack with a two run blast, her seventh of the season, to cap the inning.

The Cajuns added another run in the third on another double steal to increase the lead to 9-0 and put the game away in the fifth on Myers' three run homer, her 12th, scoring Erikka Murphy and Katie Smith.

Jordan Wallace (24-1), gave up WKU's only run in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Preslie Cruce, but the Hilltoppers (32-24-1) got nothing else the rest of the way.  Wallace finished with a four hitter for her 18th complete game of the year.

Louisiana will now play the winner of the game between North Texas and FIU, needing just one more win to advance to Saturday's championship game.  The Cajuns are scheduled to play at approximately 7:30 tonight.
