The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns never trailed at the Cajundome Wednesday night, rolling over an outmanned Loyola (NO) club, 98-56 before an announced crowd of 3,190.

Ja'Keenan Gant scored a career high 23 points to lead the Cajuns, who also got 13 points each from Malik Marquetti and Johnathan Stove, while sophomore Jerekius Davis added a season high 12.

The Wolf Pack, an NAIA school, was led by Tra'Von Jasmine, who scored 13 points.

The Cajuns (7-2) shot 51.4% (37-72) for the contest, including 13-26 from three point range.  Loyola was held to 36.7% (18049), but hit 6-11 from beyond the arc.

"I thought we were good defensively in the first half," head coach Bob Marlin said, as the Cajuns held the Wolf Pack to just 19 points in the first half.  "But we allowed them to get by us too many times in the second half and we have to be better there."

Both teams played without their leading scorers, as Frank Bartley IV sat out with an ankle injury, while Nick Parker did not make the trip from New Orleans.

Marquetti's three point basket just 23 seconds into the game gave the Cajuns a lead they would never relinquish and Louisiana built the lead to 25 points, 44-19 at halftime.  The Cajuns shot 65.6% in the second half and prevented Loyola from cutting into the lead.

The Cajuns outrebounded the visitors 43-24 with Bryce Washington leading the way with 13 boards, while Gant added eight.

The Cajuns will finish with final exams over the next two days and then will travel to Ruston to take on Louisiana Tech Tuesday night at the Thomas Assembly Center.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30pm.
