The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball team made it a clean sweep in the Mardi Gras Classic, defeating the Iowa Hawkeyes by the mercy rule, 9-0 Sunday at the Broussard Sports Complex.

Beth Ashley and Alissa Dalton combined to drive in seven of the nine runs for the Cajuns, for the Cajuns, with Kara Gremillion and Kelli Martinez also recorded RBI.

Kylie Jo Trahan (3-0) went the distance, allowing just one hit.  She walked two and struck out four.  Trahan did not allow an Iowa player to reach second base.

The Cajuns (5-0) got all the runs they would need in the first inning when Brittany Rodriguez reached on an infield single and Dalton reached on a one out single.  Ashley then tripled to right to plate Rodriguez and Dalton and Gremillion followed with a hit to score Ashley.

Dalton made it 4-0 in the third on her first homer as a Cajun, a blast to right center to extend the Cajuns' lead.  Dalton drove home a pair of runs the next inning with a bases loaded single and Ashley followed with a hit to score two more.  Louisiana finished the scoring in the fifth on an RBI bunt single by Martinez.

The Cajuns pounded out eleven hits in the game with Dalton and Kara Gremillion each going 3-3.  Ashley and Rodriguez each added a pair of hits.

The Cajuns will host Oregon State Thursday at 6:00 at Lamson Park before hosting #2 Florida in a three game series Saturday and Sunday.
