For the first time in 23 months, Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun (16-9, 1-2)softball team has lost a SBC series. Sunday afternoon at Lamson Park, the Cajuns lost a tight one to the WKU Lady Toppers (11-7, 2-1) by the score of 3-2.

Jordan Wallace fanned five batters, but allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and seven walks in 7.0 IP. Her record now stands 9-4 on the season.

Greenwood, LA native Emily Rousseau (6-2) earned the victory for the Lady Toppers, her second in as many games.

Louisiana jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning. Senior Brianna Cherry led off with double to left center. She then advanced to third on a wild pitch. On the ensuing pitch, freshmen Shellie Landry drove home Cherry with a single. Freshmen Sara Corbello added to the lead with an RBI single, driving in a run from Senior Sarah Draheim. However, the inning ended on Corbello's hit with a 7-2-1-5 double play.The Cajuns wouldn't score again.

WKU got single runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th inning to take the game, and the series. The loss marks the first conference series defeat by Louisiana since FAU swept the Cajuns in April of 2011.

Louisiana looks to bounce back at home this Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Louisiana Tech. First pitch is set for 4:00.
