The University of Lousiana has suspended Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns linebacker Chris Hill indefinitely after Hill was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse violence.

Hill was picked up by Lafayette Sheriff's deputies after an alleged incident in the Taft Street Parking Garage on campus.

Hill was expected to be a starter for the Cajuns this year, but has not played due to questions of his academic eligibility.

UL Athletic Director Scott Farmer released a statement Friday morning concerning the suspension:

“We expect all members of our Athletics program to hold themselves to the highest standard of conduct and to represent the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with integrity. As a result of an off-field incident, Chris Hill has been suspended indefinitely from competition, effective Oct. 2, 2014. The University is unable to comment further on the matter.”
--Scott Farmer, UL Athletics Director

The statement said the University would have no further comment on the matter.

Hill has been released from jail.
