Earlier this month, it looked like redshirt freshman forward Jerekius Davis was leaving Ragin' Cajuns Basketball. That's not the case, and Cajun Nation should be jumping up and down.

Davis is a 6'6", 200 lb piece of pure versatility on the basketball court, and Louisiana Head Coach Bob Marlin barely contains his excitement when talking about his ability. A report back on April 11th had Davis transferring out of Lafayette, but The Advocate's Luke Johnson reported the good news on Wednesday that Davis will indeed be back with the Cajuns next season.

Marlin lost six players to graduation, and the transfers of Hayward Register and Jay Hedgeman pushed the number to eight. Davis would have been number nine, so this news should bring about a sigh of relief from the coaching staff and fan base.

The fans haven't seen Davis play yet, but they're going to see a lot of him in the 2016-17 season. He's one of the biggest building blocks from the 2015 signing class, so keeping him in Cajun country was a must for Marlin.

Basketball season is a long way away, but this is the first win of the 2016-17 campaign for the Cajuns. We're all in for a treat when Davis finally hits the floor wearing vermilion and white.
