Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns forward Jay Hedgeman has been suspended for the remainder of the season for "conduct detrimental to the team."

The announcement was made by Sports Information Director Matt Sullivan prior to the weekly basketball press luncheon.

"We met with the team Saturday so they know what's going on," head coach Bob Marlin said.  "Jay hadn't been giving us much production on the court lately so I think we'll be okay."

Marlin did not elaborate on the reason for the suspension.

Hedgeman was averaging 4.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game, playing 13.6 minutes per contst..  He was being used primarily off the bench as a substitute for Johnathan Stove.

"We're going to need Johnathon to stay in the game," Marlin said of Stove, who fouled out in the game Thursday against UT Arlington.  "He played really well on Saturday."

Marlin also said the loss of Hedgeman could mean more on-court minutes for Hayward Register and Elijah McGuire.
