After a 3-3 road trip that saw them take two games against nationally ranked teams, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns open a five game homestand tonight, hosting the UTA Mavericks in the first of a three game Sun Belt Conference series at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

The Cajuns started and ended their road swing with wins over ranked teams, knocking off LSU 3-1 in the annual Wally Pontiff, Jr. Baseball Classic and defeating #12 Southern Miss 7-4 Wednesday night in Hattiesburg.

The Cajuns (13-16, 3-6) will send left hander Colten Schmidt (2-0, 1.47) to the mound tonight and UTA will counter with Lefty Brad Vassar (2-2,3.99).  Saturday's game will feature a pair of right handers with Jack Burk (2-4, 4.89) getting the start for the Cajuns, while the Mavericks counter with RHP Trae Patterson (2-1, 6.21).  Sunday, it will be RHP Nick Lee (1-3, 4.03) for the Cajuns, with RHP Ka'ikepono Anderson (0-1, 6.21) getting the start for UTA.

The Mavericks (14-13, 6-3 Sun Belt have been one of the league's hottest teams, winning ten of their last 14 games.  The defending Western Conference champions find themselves tied for first place with Little Rock entering play this weekend.  UTA is betting 33 points higher in league play (.294) than overall, while their ERA is also better (4.72 to 5.12) as is their defense (.973-.982)

Friday and Saturday's games will begin at 6:00 pm with the final game slated for 1:00 pm Sunday.  All three games can be heard on 96.5 KPEL-FM.
