Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajun men’s basketball team returns to the hardwood on Saturday, when coach Bob Marlin’s squad plays host to the UT-Arlington Mavericks in a Sun Belt Conference match-up.

The game will be the backend of a women’s/men’s doubleheader, with the UL women taking on UT-Arlington earlier in the day.

The match-up will also mark the fourth game of a five-game homestand for Louisiana, winners of five straight.

Tipoff time for the men’s game is set for approximately 4:15 pm at the Cajundome.

Louisiana, who defeated Texas St., 80-54, on Thursday night, is 10-8, overall, and 6-3 in league play, while UT-Arlington, who lost to ULM on Tuesday night, 99-88, is currently 14-5, and 5-3, respectively.

The Cajuns are outscoring the opposition, 82.0/74.9, and outshooting them from the floor, 45%/44%, while also holding down a 41.6/34.8 rebound advantage.

Louisiana is led by senior forward Shawn Long, who is averaging 18.7 points, to go along with 12.6 rebounds-per-game, and senior guard Kasey Shepherd, who is averaging 12.1 points and 2.1 rebounds a contest.

UT-Arlington is being outscoring the opposition, 81.5/68.4, while outshooting opponents from the floor, 41%/40%, and holding down a 45.7/36.1 rebounding advantage.

The Mavericks are paced by sophomore forward Kevin Hervey, who is scoring 18.1 points, while pulling down 9.8 rebounds-per-game.
