Ishmael Edwards' RBI double in the ninth inning scored Brad Antchak with the tie-breaking run as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns scored twice in the ninth inning to defeat Troy 4-2 in the Sun Belt Conference opener at Riddle-Pace Field Friday night.

Edwards then rode home on Nick Thurman's single up the middle as the Cajuns (9-5, 1-0 Sun Belt) won a true road game for the first time this season.

Jevin Huval (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and was credited with the win.  Dylan Moore struck out the side in the ninth for his third save of the season and 16th of his career, tying Matt Hicks for the most in school history.

Corey Childress (0-1) took the loss for the Trojans (9-7, 0-1).

Both starters, Gunner Leger for the Cajuns and Grant Bennett for Troy, pitched masterfully.  Leger allowed just four hits in seven innings of work, the only blemish being a two run homer by Payton Fuller that tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth. He did not walk a batter and struck out eight.  Bennett pitched 7.1 innings, allowing just five hits and two unearned runs.

The Cajuns outhit the Trojans 8-5, with Antchak and Brian Mills collecting two hits each.  Steven Sensley, Thurman and Edwards collected RBI in the game.

Game two of the series is scheduled for 3pm Saturday.
