Texas-San Antonio came into M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field with a reputation for being a very good hitting club and they showed it by banging out eleven hits and scoring six runs in the first game of their weekend series with Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns.

But the Cajuns showed they can hit, too.  And, did they.

The Cajuns pounded out twenty hits, including three home runs, en route to an 18-6 win over the Roadrunners before 1,877 fans.

The Cajuns (5-1) batted around in two different innings Friday night, scoring seven runs in the fourth inning and five more in the seventh.

UTSA (5-1) came into the game hitting .429 as a team through their first five games were averaging 17 hits per game.  But after scoring twice in the first three innings to trail 3-2 after three, it was the Cajuns' bats that came alive in the fourth.

Freshman Blake Trahan got the Cajuns started with his first collegiate homer, a blast to left-center leading off the inning.  Then with one out, Seth Harrison singled off losing pitcher Michael Kraft (0-1), who then hit Michael Strentz and Jace Conrad to load the bases.  Sam Carriere then hit a grounder to third base that was thrown away by Horatio Correa.  Chase Compton hit a sacrifice fly to left and Dylan Butler then doubled home two runs.  After Ryan Wilson singled, Trahan and Dex Kjerstad added RBI singles to cap the seven run uprising.

UTSA bounced back with two runs in the fifth inning, but Dylan Butler got those back with a long home run off the scoreboard in left center to give the Cajuns a 13-4 cushion.

The Roadrunners got two more in the sixth, but the Cajuns got another five runs in the seventh inning.  Sophomore Michael Strentz got the inning started with a home run into the pine trees in left field.  Caleb Adams, Trahan and Ryan Leonards all had RBI in the inning.

Butler wound up with a career six RBI for the Cajuns.  Kjerstad and Trahan each had four hits, and combined for five runs batted in.

The two teams will meet again Saturday at 2:05pm at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.  LHP Cody Boutte will get the start for the Cajuns.
