Louisiana Ragin' Cajun catcher Lexie Elkins had an outstanding collegiate career, filled with awards.

Today, she can stick another skin on the wall as the two-time winner of the James J. Corbett Award.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Elkins as the recipient earlier today.

Unlike some of her previous honors, the Corbett Award isn't confined to softball. It's awarded annually to the most outstanding amateur male and female athletes in the State of Louisiana.

Elkins earned the Corbett Award last year, while her former teammate Christina Hamilton won it the year before. Two years prior, former Ragin' Cajun softballer Christi Orgeron earned the prestigious honor.

"The relationships I created and my memories from UL are untouchable," Elkins said in a University press release. "Playing there was a once in a lifetime experience. Nothing will come close to touching that experience."

Other Cajuns who have earned the Corbett Award include pitcher Ashley Brignac and running  back Tyrell Fenroy, who took home the female and male honors in 2008.
