Louisiana Ragin' Cajun senior quarterback Terrance Broadway has been named Sun Belt Conference preseason Offensive Player of the Year, as voted on by coaches and select members of the media. Arkansas State senior linebacker Qushaun Lee is tabbed as the defensive POY.

The 2014 preseason praise isn't new for Broadway, as the Baton Rouge native was named to the coveted Davey O'Brien award watch list, as well as the CFPA trophy watch list.

However, a little over 7 months ago, Broadway was left off the 2013 All Sun-Belt conference teams (as voted on by coaches and a select media member from each school), while 4 outgoing senior quarterbacks were recognized.

"I just feel like the Sun Belt Conference coaches started a wildfire," Broadway told me back in December when asked about being left off all Sun-Belt. "It's not extra motivation, it's a wildfire...you can't put it out. It's those coaches opinions and you've got to value those coaches opinion...but you get out here from January to August and work your butt off, and that's what I'm going to do."

Several days after that interview, a determined Broadway started in the R&L Carrier's New Orleans Bowl, just three weeks after breaking his arm.

Preseason accolades are nice, but it's the honors after a season that mean most. Honors that are based on what you've done in 2014, not what your expected to do.

Having said that, the coaches and media expect Broadway to do plenty this upcoming season, as evidenced by his Offensive Player of the Year recognition.
