Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper captured the 2018 Major League Baseball Home Run Derby on Monday night at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Down 18-9 to Kyle Schwarber, of the Chicago Cubs, in the final round, Harper went deep nine times in a span of 10 swings to tie it at the end of regulation.

Harper then drove the second pitch of bonus time over the fence in center field to win the event, becoming the third player ever to win the Home Run Derby in his home park, joining Ryne Sandberg (Cubs, 1990) and Todd Frazier (Reds, 2015).

Harper defeated Freddie Freeman, 13-12, in the opening round, and Max Muncy, 13-12, in the semifinals, prior to downing Schwarber, 19-18, to become the champion.
