Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim has become only the third coach in men's basketball history to notch 900 Division I career victories.

The third ranked Orange (10-0) opened up a big lead and held off a furious Detroit rally to edge the Titans 72-68 at the Carrier Dome.

Boeheim is in his 37th year as the coach of his alma mater.  He joins Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and former Indiana and Texas Tech coach Bob Knight as the only other coaches to reach that milestone.

Syracuse has now won 30 straight at home.

Detroit, however, had a 16-0 run to cut a 20 point lead to four, 67-63 with just under a minute left.  Syracuse hit their free throws in the final seconds to keep the lead.
