Mugsy Bogues, Larry Johnson, Alonzo Mourning, Dell Curry, Glen Rice...when one reminisces about the Charlotte Hornets, chances are they think about these great players of the past.

When one thinks about the Charlotte Bobcats, chances are they think about a terrible basketball team. Perhaps that's why owner Michael Jordan and the Bobcat organization have begun the process of reverting back to the Charlotte Hornets.

According to a report from cbssports.com, the Bobcats are currently acquiring digital assets that will help them eventually return to their old nickname.

When the Hornets moved to New Orleans in 2002, former owner George Shinn took the team nickname with him. New owner Tom Benson recently changed the Hornets to the Pelicans, a change which took effect a month ago. Benson does not own the nickname Hornets, as it is owned by the NBA.

No timetable has been set for the switch from Bobcats to Hornets, but such a change would take at least a year and a half.
