Blake Dean, who helped lead LSU to a College World Series championship in 2009, has been named head baseball coach at the University of New Orleans.

Dean served as assistant coach of the Privateers the past two seasons under legendary coach Ron Maestri, who retired at the end of the 2015 season.  Dean had been named interim coach during the search process.

Dean was an All-American for the Tigers during his playing career, which ended after the 2010 season.  He played two years of minor league baseball in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization before returning to LSU to finish his degree requirements in sports administration.  He served as  a volunteer assistant at LSU before joining the UNO staff.
