The pick: LeCharles Bentley

When deciding who is the best New Orleans Saints player to ever wear #65, the choice is limited to offensive linemen Tom Carr, Remi Prudhomme, Dave Thompson, Robert Woods, Bob Young, David Carter, Adam Schreiber, Steve Trapilo, Willie Williams, Chris Naeole, LeCharles Bentley, Andy Alleman, and Senio Kelemete.

Our selection is going to be Bentley, an offensive lineman, who played for the Saints for four years, from 2002-2005.

After playing his college football at Ohio St., Bentley was drafted by the Saints in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Bentley made an immediate impact, starting at right guard in his first two seasons, while being named to the Pro Bowl in his rookie year.

The 6-foot-2, 313-pound Bentley then became the starting center from 2004-2005, being named a Pro Bowler for a second time, following the 2005 campaign.

Bentley left the Saints following the 2005 season, signing a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns. He never played however, due to numerous ailments, including a major knee injury, along with a serious staph infection, which forced him into early retirement.

In four NFL seasons, Bentley appeared in 57 games, all with the Saints, and all as a starter.
