All summer long, we’re going to list the best players in New Orleans Saints history to wear every number, 00-99.

In our last segment, we did #54.

Today, #55:

The pick: Scott Fujita

When deciding who is the best New Orleans Saints player to ever wear #55, the choice is limited to offensive lineman Jonathan Goodwin and linebackers Jackie Burkett, Jim Flanigan, Tom Stincic, Bob Creech, Don Coleman, Floyd Rice, Dave Washington, Rob Naine, Joe Kohlbrand, Joe DeForest, Scott Ross, Reggie Freeman, Mark Fields, DeShone Myles, Travis Carroll, and Scott Fujita.

Our selection is going to be Fujita, an outside linebacker, who played for the Saints for four years, from 2006-2009.

After playing his college football at California, Fujita was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Fujita was a three-year starter for the Chiefs before being traded to the Dallas Cowboys, where he played for one season, prior to singing with the Saints as a free agent before the start of the 2006 season.

In 56 career games with the Saints, including 54 as a starter, Fujita compiled 247 tackles, including 7.5 sacks, 4 interceptions, and 2 fumble recoveries.

A member of the Saints team that won the Super Bowl following the 2009 season, Fujita signed with the Cleveland Browns prior to the 2010 season, where he played for three seasons before retiring.

In 11 NFL seasons, Fujita racked-up 598 total tackles, including 23.5 sacks, 7 interceptions, and 3 fumble recoveries.

Fujita currently works with Fox Sports 1 as an analyst.
