All summer long, we’re going to list the best players in New Orleans Saints history to wear every number, 00-99.

Yesterday, we did #47.

Today, #48:

The pick: Don Schwartz

When deciding who is the best New Orleans Saints player to ever wear #48, the choice is limited to running backs Andy Livingston, James Fenderson, and Vonta Leach, tight end David Sloan, and defensive back Don Schwartz.

Not a big selection here, so we're going to go with Schwartz, a safety, who played three years for the Saints, from 1978-1980.

After playing his college football at Washington St., Schwartz was selected by the Saints in the 4th round of the 1978 NFL Draft.

A native of Billings, Montana, Schwartz went on to play for the Saints for three years, intercepting two passes in 1978.

Schwartz was also used sparingly as a return man for the Saints in 1978.

After leaving the Saints following the 1980 season, Schwartz played one season for the St. Louis Cardinals, before retiring following the 1981 season.
