Famous ice cream developer Ben & Jerry's has issued an apology for their new Lin-Sanity flavored ice cream. Their new "Taste the Lin-Sanity" yogurt, sold only at a Harvard square location in Boston, contained fortune cookies and lychee honey swirls. It was named Lin-Sanity in honor of Asian-American basketball star Jeremy Lin.

Lychees are a fruit indigenous to China, yet no one was offended by that. Perhaps it's not commonly known that lychees come from China. However, it is commonly known that fortune cookies are part of Asian cuisine in America. The inclusion of fortune cookies offended enough individuals for Ben & Jerry's to replace them with waffle cookies. It still sounds pretty delicious if you ask me. I wish they sold it in Lafayette.

Ben & Jerry's released an apology in the following statement issued to the press: "We offer a heartfelt apology if anyone was offended by our handmade Lin-Sanity flavor.

"We are proud and honored to have Jeremy Lin hail from one of our fine, local universities and we are huge sports fans. Our intention was to create a flavor to honor Jeremy Lin's accomplishments and his meteoric rise in the NBA, and recognize that he was a local Harvard graduate.

"We try to demonstrate our commitment as a Boston-based, valued-led business and if we failed in this instance we offer our sincere apologies."

So what do you think? Was is truly offensive or are some being too sensitive?
