Baseball Players Are Underrated Athletes

Many sports fans consider the best athletes in sports to be the non-centers in basketball, or the non-linemen in football. But Tim Kurkjian, of ESPN The Magazine, says Major League Baseball players rank right up there, in terms of athleticism.

I'm amazed by how many people think that baseball players aren't, for the most part, good athletes. Then again, former Major League Baseball player John Kruk didn't exactly do much to change a lot of minds with his famous: "I'm not an athlete. I'm a professional baseball player" quote.

Kurkjian talks about the athleticism of Matt Kemp, Cameron Maybin, Dustin Mosely, Joe Mauer, Grady Sizemore, and Torii Hunter, just to name a few.

It's difficult to say if baseball does have the best athletes, player-for-player, but I certainly think baseball has the most under-appreciated athletes.
