The Houston Astros improved their bullpen on Wednesday, acquiring closer Ken Giles from the Philadelphia Phillies, during day three of the Major League Baseball winter meetings.

A 25-year old right hander, Giles went 6-3 last season in Philadelphia, while compiling 15 saves, a 1.80 ERA., and 87 strikeouts in 70 innings of work.

In return. the Phillies acquirer right-handed pitcher Vincent Velasquez, left-handed pitcher Brett Oberholtzer, and outfielder Derek Fisher.

Unconfirmed reports also say that the Astros are shipping right-hander pitcher Thomas Eshelman, the club's second-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, to the Phillies as well.
