Arrogate won the $12 million Pegasus World Cup on Saturday at Gulfstream Park, defeating 11 horses, including California Chrome, the 2016 Kentucky Derby winner, in dominating fashion.

Winner of the Grade 1 Breeder's Cup Classic back in November, Arrogate romped to a 4 3/4 length win, while his primary rival, California Chrome, suffered an injury to his right leg and finished a disappointing ninth.

Ridden by Mike Smith, Arrogate, the 4-5 favorite, completed the 1 1/8 mile race in a winning time of 1:47.61.

Shaman Ghost rallied for second, 3 1/2 lengths in front of Neolithic, who held on for third.

Arrogate, the 4-year old son of Unbridled’s Song, who has now won six-consecutive races, and now has 6 wins an a third-place finish in 7 career starts, increased his career earnings to $11 million.
