The league went 1-3 in non conference action against G5 opposition this weekend, and four more teams opened league action.

ARKANSAS STATE 27, UNLV 20--Freshman Marcel Murray scored from 39 yards out and added a two point conversion, leading the Red Wolves (3-1) to the non conference win.  Justice Hansen threw for three touchdowns in the game, which was played in a driving rain most of the night.

UTSA 25, TEXAS STATE 21--The Roadrunners got an early defensive touchdown and held off Texas State (1-3)(0-1) in a game played in San Antonio.  Tyler Vitt threw for 192 yards and a pair of scores but was picked off twice. Jared Sackett had three field goals from 40 yards or more for UTSA.

WESTERN MICHIGAN 34, GEORGIA STATE 15--Dan Ellington threw for 285 yards for the Panthers, but Western Michigan had two running backs combine for nearly 250 yards rushing in the contest.  Georgia State turned the ball over three times as WMU ran out to a 20-9 lead and never looked back.

MEMPHIS 52, SOUTH ALABAMA 35--Brady White threw for 292 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Darrell Henderson rushed for 188 yards and a pair of scores to lead the TIgers.  Evan Orth threw for 360 yards and three touchdowns to get South Alabama (1-3, 1-0) within 31-27 late in the third quarter before Memphis pulled away.

APPALACHIAN STATE 72, GARDNER WEBB 7--The Mountaineers (2-1) got a blocked punt for a touchdown and a punt return for another TD.  App scored 28 first quarter points en route to the blowout win.  Jalin Moore rushed for 119 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

TROY 35, ULM 27--Kaleb Barker accounted for four touchdowns as Troy (3-1, 1-0) opened league play with a win.  Barker's four scores enabled the Trojans to jump out to a 35-7 lead before ULM made a comeback attempt.  Caleb Evans threw for 290 yards and rushed for 101 in a losing effort for ULM (2-2, 0-1).

COASTAL CAROLINA 30, LOUISIANA 28--The Chanticleers (3-1, 1-0) played keep away from the Cajuns, rolling up almost 39 minutes of possession time in running out to a 23-7 lead early in the third quarter.  Raymond Calais and Trey Ragas both had 100 yards rushing fo rthe Cajuns (1-2, 0-1).  Marcus Outlow ran for 95 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Coastal.
