For the first time, Baylor basketball is ranked #1 in the country.

The Associated Press and USA Today polls both agreed, with the AP giving the Bears 55 out of 65 first place votes, while Baylor also garnered 24 of the 34 first place votes from the coaches.

Baylor is one of only two teams that remain underfeated.  Gonzaga, ranked #5 is the other.

Kansas is the consensus #2.  Villanova, ranked #1 for the past five weeks, dropped to third after sustaining its first loss of the season.  UCLA is #4.  Kentucky is 6th, followed by Duke and Creighton.  Florida State is #9 and West Virginia #10 in the AP poll.  Those two teams are reversed in the USA Today poll.

Minnesota entered the Top 25 for the first time.  The Golden Gophers are 15-2 and opened the season with a win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.
