According to an AP report, a security video of Ray Rice punching his fiance was sent to an NFL Executive back in April.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has adamantly claimed the league office had never seen the video until it was released by TMZ on Monday.

A New Jersey law enforcement official spoke anonymously to the Associated Press, sharing a 2-second voicemail that was received on his phone from an NFL office number on April 9, confirming the video had arrived to the NFL Executive's office. The identity of the executive has not been revealed.

A female voice on the voicemail said upon receiving a DVD of the incident, "You're right. It's terrible."

The law enforcement official has yet to be contacted by anyone from the NFL since receiving that voicemail.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy released the following statement today, on behalf of the league office.

"We are not aware of anyone in our office who possessed or saw the video before it was made public on Monday. We will look into it."
