The NBA has adopted a new rule that will punish those players who continuously "flop" to try to draw a foul.

Any player who "flops" during a regular season game will be subject to a series of fines after a warning on the first offense.  Players will be fined in increments of $5,000 for each additional violation.

The league also said it would consider suspension of players who are determined to have violated the rule more than five times during the season.  The league is also expected to come up with a rule that would govern postseason play.
