Allen Iverson Is Still Getting Paid $800k A Year By Reebok
NBA Hall of Famer Allen Iverson retired after the 2009-2010 season.
Iverson's name isn't one you hear all too often anymore. If anything, it's the tax trouble he's in. Then why is Reebok still paying him $800,000 a year?
According to Chief Executive Officer Matt O’Toole:
“He’s an iconic personality. Let’s get on a plane to Shanghai together. You bring Allen Iverson into a market like that. I’ll stand firmly that he has a big place in basketball and sports history. He has a place in our heritage, and there is a group of consumers who want to connect to that. He’s relevant for a lot of our consumers.”
Here's Iverson talking about his lifetime endorsement deal. Oh, yeah. He's going to get it forever.
So, about that whole Allen Iverson has money issues thing. It seems pretty unlikely. He also said that it was a myth back in 2015. We probably should have believed him.
