Through six innings, Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher Clayton Kershaw showed why he is the best pitcher on the planet.  One hit, no runs, nine strikeouts, including striking out the side in the sixth.

Then came the seventh.

Pitching on three days' rest, Kershaw gave up two singles just off the gloves of his fielders.  Then, Kershaw faced Matt Adams, who hit under .200 against lefties during the season.  Adams blasted a three run homer and the St. Louis bullpen held the lead as the Cardinals won the division series three games to one with a 3-2 win at Busch Stadium.

Those were the only four hits the Cardinals got in the game.

The Dodgers scored twice in the sixth inning to take the lead, scoring one run on a double play and another on a single by Juan Uribe.  But two runs would not be enough.

The Dodgers threatened in the ninth inning putting two runners on with two out, but Carl Crawford grounded into a force play, setting off the Cards' celebration.

The Cardinals will meet either San Francisco or Washington in the National League Championship Series beginning Saturday.  If the Giants win, the series will start in St. Louis.
