Week Eight around Acadiana brings us some explosive matchups between STM and Teurlings, Church Point and Eunice, and Carencro and Northside.

Let's start with a game that's sure to promise points and possible heart attacks: STM and Teurlings. Cougars and Rebels. Jim Hightower and Sonny Charpentier.

The list goes on. Will Bellamy and Cole Kelley diagnosing the defense. Trevor Begue and Noah Harris carving with creativity. Both teams are loaded, and both fan bases are passionate and invested. Every time STM and Teurlings get together, it takes over the city of Lafayette. Even if you don't have a horse in the race, you want to know the outcome when thoroughbreds go head-to-head.

In the wins and loss column, STM holds the slight overall advantage at 6-1, but Teurlings would love to even things out with their sixth win. The Rebels pulled off the 53-46 win last season in dramatic fashion. What will this week's rivalry renewal bring?

Let's keep our foot on the gas heading into the next matchup. Church Point and Eunice deserve your full attention.

Each unit carries a 6-1 record and an undefeated mark through district play, and the winner of this one will be in position to claim District 5-3A outright. Eunice better bring their offense because Church Point topped 40 points the last four weeks. The Bobcats can pop some chin straps on defense though, and their only loss on the year comes to a Crowley team who could be destined for a date in the Superdome. The folks in the stands for this one could see a crazy finish, and the winner will sit in the driver's seat in 3-5A.

For our last game, it's about time to take a trip to watch Carencro play in the News Talk 96.5 KPEL Game of the Week.

Northside's probably going to get lit up in this one by Super Bowl Champ and Carencro legend Kevin Faulk's offense. The reason for this highlight is so we can say nice things about the Bears potent attack. It would be wrong to skip a chance to see Tyreik Cambell and Gabe Duffy do their thing.

Not to mention, if the Bears want to keep up with STM and Teurlings in District 4-4A, every win is crucial at this point in the season.

We're marching onward toward the playoffs, people. The importance of Friday nights will only increase as the calendar creeps toward clutch time. What story will be written this week?
