A special game preview, from the voice of the Wreckin’ Rams, James P. Bitterman
The Acadiana Wreckin' Rams (6-4, 3-2) will open defense of their 2013 5A State Championship tonight versus the St. Amant Gators (6-4, 3-2) in round 1 of the playoffs.

St. Amant enters tonight’s contest riding a three game winning streak after defeating Woodlawn BR, and rivals East Ascension and Dutchtown.  The victory over Dutchtown was the first for the Gators since Dutchtown High School opened 10 years ago.

The Gators are led by quarterback, Tyler Dixon, who has thrown for 2,021 yards, 15 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.  Dixon has proven to be a top tier athlete. In the victory over Dutchtown, he led the team in passing and receiving yards.  St. Amant will also look to athletes Marquise Hampton and Briggs Bourgeois to make plays against the Wreckin’ Rams.  St. Amant isn’t afraid to reach into a playbook of tricks. They’ve run half back passes and onside kicks in recent victories.

The Wreckin’ Rams move to Kevin Moore at quarterback helped to the Wreckin; Rams reach their highest rushing total of the year at 389 yards, eclipsing the 353 yards Acadiana rushed for in the win over Sulphur.  Unfortunately, the Rams are still plaqued by the fumble bug last week as they fumbled a season high ten times, losing five of the fumbles.  Last week was Acadiana's third game losing 5 fumbles.  Amazingly, the Wreckin Rams are 2-1 in those games.

For the Wreckin’ Rams to make the deep playoff run their fans are used to, they must get rid of the fumble bug.

The winner of this game will play the winner of (31) South Lafourche (4-6) vs (2) Ponchatoula (10-0).  If the Wreckin’ Rams are victorious tonight versus St. Amant, they will be on the road in round two.
