The Acadiana Wreckin Rams (11-1) took a 24-7 halftime lead; and held on to defeat the Landry Walker Charging Buccaneers (8-4) 24-22, last Friday night at Bill Dotson Stadium.

In my opinion. it was  one of the top 4 games I have seen Acadiana play in the 13 years I have been broadcasting the games  (see the chart below).

Acadiana's special teams played a huge part in this victory, as after the Wreckin Rams first touchdown, a sky kick went unfielded and the Wreckin Rams recovered the loose ball and used the short field to score their second touchdown.  Acadiana's punt coverage team would strip Landry Walker's punt returner of the ball on a punt and that too lead to points for the Rams.

Landry Walker would out gain Acadiana, 348-229, but the Wreckin Rams would do enough on offense and defense to secure the win, with Kanyon St. Julien coming up with the big interception in the closing seconds of the game.

This week the Wreckin Rams travel to Watson, LA, to take on the Live Oak Eagles (7-5).  Don't be fooled by Live Oaks record, as they are on a 5 game winning streak, after moving three players from defense to offense, and went to Sulphur and beat the Golden Tornadoes 23-10 in the first round.   The Eagles run the triple option out of the flexbone and are very efficient doing it.  Also, Live Oak's defense was the second best in their district, behind Zachary, who may be the best defense in the state.

Don't tune in late, as both teams like to run the ball and this game could be over quick.

The pre game show starts at 6:02 and kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. All the exciting action can be heard over the air in the Acadiana area on ESPN 1420 am, on the internet at espn1420.com, and on smart phone app radioPup.
