Wow, what an incredible year of High School Football it has been thus far and with four of our local area teams earning a spot in the Dome the excitement is just beginning.

This is the week we'll find out which teams will bring home the hardware with a State Title on the line. Here are the four local teams and their Title match-ups:

  • Division IV- #4 Lafayette Christian Academy Knights: 10 vs. #6 Ascension Catholic: 0- Final
  • Division III- #3 Catholic High New Iberia: 13 #1 Notre Dame: 0- 2nd Q
  • Class 2A- #1 Welsh vs. #6 St. Helena College & Career Academy- December 8, 2017: 12pm Kickoff

As you can see we've got two area teams meeting up in the Division III State Championship Game. The Catholic High New Iberia Panthers and the Notre Dame Pios. Therefore, we're guaranteed to have at least one local team come home with the Championship in hand.

I also wanted to give a shout-out and recognize the area teams that came up short last weekend in their semifinal games. Acadiana, Rayne, Jennings, and Kaplan you all had exceptional seasons and it was a blast covering your teams all season long. Although I know it stings getting so close and coming up just short you should hold your heads up high and feel proud of the work you put in this season. I can certainly bet each and every one of you, coaches and players alike, grew this season as people, and that's extremely important moving forward in life.

Best of luck to our remaining four teams!
