After Louisiana-Monroe drew a record of over 31,000 in their loss to Baylor Friday night, Saturday saw another school attendance fall as Western Kentucky drew over 23,000 fans to Houchens/L. T. Smith Stadium.  The fans went home happy as the Hilltoppers steamrolled Southern Miss 42-17.

Troy evened its Sun Belt record at 1-1 by edging North Texas in the Mean Green conference opener 14-7 at Apogee Stadium in Denton.

#20 Louisville got revenge from a loss a year ago by beating FIU, 28-21.  The Panthers lost quarterback Jake Medlock during the game due to injury, and 2011 rushing champion Kedrick Rhodes did not play.

#1 Alabama handled Florida Atlantic 40-7.  The Owls had fewer than 100 yards in offense until their final drive.

#20 Mississippi State had no trouble with South Alabama 30-10.  The Bulldogs allowed only 104 yards in the first half while building a 20-0 lead.

Ryan Aplin threw for three scores as Arkansas State hammered Alcorn State 56-0.

Two big conference games highlight action next weekend as FIU travels to Louisiana and Arkansas State plays host to WKU.  FAU opens conference play, hosting North Texas and Troy travels to Mobile to take on South Alabama.

ULM and Middle Tennessee are out of conference, as the Warhawks take on Tulane and the Blue Raiders meet Georgia Tech.
