Louisiana baseball coach Tony Robichaux has announced junior left hander Ryan Wilson will be his Friday starter when the Cajuns open up play in the Baton Rouge regional against Sam Houston State.

The Cajuns (41-17) and Bearkats (37-20) meet in Friday's featured game at 7:00pm at Skip Bertman Field at Alex Box Stadium.

Wilson (6-4, 3.35 ERA) won two games in the recent Sun Belt Conference Tournament, winning a game in relief and a game as a starter.  Friday will be his 22nd appearance of the season and his 11th start.

In the Division I era, the Cajuns lead series with the Bearkats 7-1.  The two teams played a home-and-home series back in 2005.  Sam Houston State won the first game 6-5 in a game that was suspended in Huntsville and completed prior to the rematch at "Tigue" Moore Field, won by the Cajuns, 14-5.

In that Sam Houston win, Kolin Hatfield hit a grand slam home run....for the Bearkats.  Hatfield would later transfer to UL and hit three home runs in a game for the Cajuns at FIU in 2007.

Lefty Cody Dickson (9-5, 4.33 ERA) will get the start for the Bearkats.  Dickson was the losing pitcher to Southeastern Louisiana, 5-3, at the Southland Conference tournament, with the Lions getting all their runs in one inning.  Dickson has three complete games to his credit on the season.

Here's a quick look at the bracket for the Cajuns and who they will face in the next few rounds (full bracket can be viewed here):
