Jake Delhomme led the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance 8 years ago. Currently, he's a backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. But for how long? Could Jake be heading back to Carolina?

Pat Yasinskas, an NFC South blogger for espn.com, explores the possibility.

Carolina coach Ron Rivera has implied the Panthers will look to add a veteran, so there’s some logic to this. Delhomme was a fan favorite through much of his time in Carolina and also was very well-liked by his teammates and everyone in the building.

There have been a plethora of reports that the Browns will release Jake Delhomme when the lockout ends. If that's the case, Delhomme would probably love to go back to Carolina.

Jake is a competitive guy, but at this point in his career, I think he could embrace the mentor role. Whether he's in Cleveland, Carolina, or elsewhere next season, he'll have to embrace that role.

Jake Delhomme is no longer a starting quarterback in the NFL, but it doesn't mean he can't have a significant impact for a franchise.
