Jake Delhomme led the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance 8 years ago. Currently, he's a backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. But for how long? Could Jake be heading back to Carolina?

Carolina coach Ron Rivera has implied the Panthers will look to add a veteran, so there’s some logic to this. Delhomme was a fan favorite through much of his time in Carolina and also was very well-liked by his teammates and everyone in the building.

There have been a plethora of reports that the Browns will release Jake Delhomme when the lockout ends. If that's the case, Delhomme would probably love to go back to Carolina.

Jake is a competitive guy, but at this point in his career, I think he could embrace the mentor role. Whether he's in Cleveland, Carolina, or elsewhere next season, he'll have to embrace that role.

Jake Delhomme is no longer a starting quarterback in the NFL, but it doesn't mean he can't have a significant impact for a franchise.
