Leaders come in different shapes and forms, but Zach Ronquillo definitely looks the part when you look at the Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators.

This is the year for Ronquillo. Last year as a junior, he emerged as a playmaker in the Blue Gator offense, catching passes from Jake Arceneaux. He's an impressive athlete, and it looks like he added some muscle heading into his final season at AES. He might be listed as a receiver, but he's one of the bigger players on the roster. The ball will be in his hands a lot, and it will be up to him to make a difference.

When things got tough last season, the Blue Gators looked to Jake Arceneaux. This year, Ronquillo is ready to fill that role.

"I’m coming in as a senior this year, kind of replacing the leadership that Jake had," Ronquillo said. "I’m not that much of a talkative guy, but I lead by example."

If Ascension Episcopal wants to repeat the breakout success they had last season in District 7-1A, they need to find creative ways to involve him in the offense. New Head Coach Matt Desormeaux is leaning on him heading into the 2016 season, and he's ready to carry the load.

Take a minute or two to let Ronquillo fill you in on what's going on with the Blue Gators heading into the fall. Make sure you watch the end, where he gets to talk about his teammates. Who's the best (and worst) dancers? You know you want to hear...
