"M.V.P.! M.V.P.! M.V.P.!", chanted the Warriors crowd, only it wasn't for a member of their own team.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith was the biggest talking point coming off the heels of game 1 of the NBA Finals when he rebounded a missed George Hill free throw near his own basket and dribbled out the final seconds of regulation, thinking his team was leading.

Golden State and Cleveland were tied, and the the Warriors went on to win by 10 in overtime.

Despite suspect officiating and the missed free by Hill, Smith was the talk of the sports world on Friday.

Sunday night, he received a standing ovation and loud applaus from the Warriors home crowd at Oracle arena during the announcement of starting lineups.

Midway through the first quarter, the "M.V.P." chants rained down on Smith when he stepped to the charity stripe.

Perhaps J.R. will get a more pleasant crowd reaction in Cleveland where the series shifts for game 3.

Golden State ran away with game 2 on Sunday night, winning 122-103.
