Former New Orleans Saints' defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has a new gig.

Phillips, who was defensive coordinator for the Saints from 1981-1985, while his dad, Bum Phillips, was head coach, will be the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, and their new head coach, 30-year old Sean McVay.

The 69-year old Phillips, who began his NFL coaching career as an assistant coach with the Houston Oilers back in 1976, was the defensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos over the past two seasons, including 2015, when they dominated defensively, and won the Super Bowl.

Phillips was a fulltime head coach in the NFL on three different occasions, guiding the  Broncos from 1993-1994, the Buffalo Bills from 1998-2000, and the Dallas Cowboys from 2007-2010, while accumulating an overall record of 79-57 with those three franchises..

In addition, Phillips has been an interim head coach on three separate occasions, including 1985, while he compiled an overall record of 1-3 while coaching the Saints in the final four games of that season.
