Ninety-one-year-old Sy Perlis, of Surprise, Arizona, recently set a world record in the 90-and-over category by lifting 187.5 pounds at the National Push-Pull Bench Press and Dead Lift Championships

The World War Two veteran is relatively late to the lifting game, having first gotten into the sport when he was 60. He missed  last year’s competition due to a hernia, but that has hardly slowed him down.

Perlis now works out five days a week and even serves as a role model for his wife, Joan, 69. She says, “I always say if it weren’t for my husband, I’d be at home watching TV and eating bonbons. He’s my motivator. He makes me work out, too.”

That’s impressive. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got a sudden hankering for some bonbons.

Well, this is quite the fish tale.

This video features a six-year-old boy named Reed catching what appears to be a 100-pound tarpon.

Of course, there are many naysayers who believe Reed didn’t catch the fish and his accomplishment only looks genuine due to some slick editing.

Granted, this all probably took place at four in the morning, but the hosts of ‘Morning Joe’ are going to have to be sharper than this if they want to stand a chance against Russell Brand.

Brand was not having any of their small talk or bad manners and took them to task for it. He drilled them all on NSA leaker Edward Snowden and tried to get an opinion from them — an effort that resulted in nervous jokes about his chest hair. In addition, he also called one of the show’s hosts a “shaft grabber” and told her to lose the wedding ring. It’s pretty epic.

Not since Miss Teen South Carolina have we seen such a confusing response to a fairly straightforward question. Sincerely, look at Jezebel for maybe one day a year, and you should be able to at least bluff your way through that one. Instead, what happened? No really, what happened — we genuinely don’t know.

We’re not sure why the driver was in such a rush, but we have a hunch he or she may have been late to work — as a stuntman.

Sometimes a small fountain or fishpond just isn’t enough when it comes to giving your garden that extra kick you need to make it one-of-a-kind. If you want your children and friends to applaud your audacity and imagination in the home-and-gardening sphere, an extreme garden ornament just might be that elusive item you’re in search of.

Some of these creations you can buy from a retailer, while others you may have to set up, or figure out how to design and build all by yourself. There are many, many ways to turn your backyard or garden into some kind of mystical wonderland, or maybe a freaky sideshow attraction. Either way, here are five ideas to get your creative juices flowing, and to give you some inspiration while you build, or hunt down extreme garden ornaments to add to your collection:

Dinosaurs

Yes, you can buy a life-size dinosaur sculpture from a manufacturer and then plop that colossal beast down in your backyard. If you want something a little more soothing, you might want to opt for a peaceful, plant-eating dinosaur, like a stegosaurus. If you want to scare the ghost out of your neighbors, while at the same time thrilling your kids, why not make it a Tyrannosaurus rex? A giant dinosaur sitting in your backyard is an impressive garden ornament, but these bad boys don’t come cheaply—be prepared to pull out your wallet on this one.

Zombies

If you’re good with your hands, you can craft a disconcerting zombie-clawing-out-of-the-earth garden ornament. How cool and macabre would that be? Or, if you prefer, you can chop up an old store mannequin, and then with some red paint and a touch of flair, turn the head and unattached limbs into a zombie sculpture.

For those of you who like this idea but have neither the time nor skill to build a zombie ornament yourself, don’t worry. You can purchase a sculpted member of the undead from a design studio and have that corpse emerging from the ground in your backyard in no time at all.

Giant Wind Chimes

People-size wind chimes are a fantastic idea for folks who don’t live in crowded neighborhoods. If you have a bit of space between your house and garden (and that of your neighbor’s), go ahead and indulge in the largest wind chimes you can get your musical hands on. Big wind chimes produce deep sounds, which can resonate for lengthy periods of time, like the bells you might hear at a Buddhist temple perched high in the Himalayas. Soon you’ll have your very own “chime symphony” playing for you every time a breeze kicks up.

Life-Size Animals

If dinosaurs aren’t your cup of tea, but you do like the notion of a large, sculpted creature residing in your garden, you can always buy and install a life-size replica of your favorite animal. Bulls, dogs, horses and pigs are a few of the mammals available. If you need something bigger, why not go in for a bear, crocodile, full-size giraffe, lion or a jumbo-size elephant? Once you get your collection of extreme animal ornaments started, your backyard will begin to look like a zoo.

Easter Island Moai Head

You know those giant and mysterious heads you’ve seen on television documentaries about Easter Island (Rapa Nui)? Well, now you can have one of those massive craniums for yourself. No, it won’t be the real thing shipped from the remote island directly into your garden. It (or they) will be a full-scale or semi-scale replica of the famous Easter Island Moai heads.

What better way to give your backyard an exotic, South Pacific vibe? These heads make for some extremely unusual garden ornaments, and they serve as a great conversation starter. Plus, they’re just a lot of fun to look at—although you’ll never win a staring match with one of these oversized domes.

Most recently you’ve probably seen Rochelle in commercials for her new role as April Malloy in ABC’s brand new drama series, ‘Mistresses,’ but this stunner has been around for quite some time. The craziest part? She seems to get better looking every year.

On the big screen, Rochelle played Denise Porter in the 2004 comedy ‘White Chicks,’ and also starred as Blair Underwood’s wife in Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea’s Family Reunion.’

On TV she was Detective Grace Russell in 2009′s ‘Forgotten,’ and has guest-starred on ‘Bones,’ ‘Desperate Housewives,’ ‘Drive,’ ‘NCIS,’ and ‘Dark Blue.’ Before being cast in ‘Mistresses,’ she was a recurring actress in ABC’s ‘Detroit 1-8-7,’ until her character was murdered.

Car designers are hard at work coming up with some incredible, futuristic-looking automotive designs, some of which may be racing down your street in the years ahead.

Sports cars and spacecraft-like models tend to dominate the imaginations of the engineering students and designers envisioning our near and distant futures. Even so, we’d like to start this list off with a family car—kind of, sort of—before we jump into some of the wilder concept cars you may see in the not-so-distant future.

1. Chevrolet Stingray AeroWagon

The Chevrolet Stingray AeroWagon, which is based on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, just might be put into production by Callaway Cars, if enough orders are received. This incredibly sexy “family” car will have a rear hatch—just like any other station wagon—except the hatch will be made out of carbon-fiber. The car itself will be capable of reaching 200 mph, although it will still be rather economical (for a Corvette) when it comes to gas mileage. This definitely isn’t your mother’s station wagon.

2. BMW ZX-6

We might as well rocket into the future with our next entry. The BMW ZX-6 doesn’t even look like a car, at least not like anything you’ve seen outside of science-fiction movies. This “space car” is the brainchild of design students at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin, Italy, who worked in conjunction with BMW. The streamlined body, hidden wheels and driver’s-side and passenger seats integrated into the car’s body all make the BMW ZX-6 a daring concept vehicle. We’re sure many a future-minded car enthusiast is praying that this BMW will make it off the ground.

3. Lamborghini’s Egoista

Lamborghini makes sleek, extremely expensive, high-performance sports cars, but the Egoista is something above and beyond what Lamborghini already has on offer. This concept car—which has only a single seat—is part-racing machine, part-designer’s unadulterated dream, part-neon rocket ship and part-personal statement for a rich owner who really wants to be noticed when he or she takes it out for a drive.

4. Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept

The Mercedes-Benz BIOME concept car is a vehicle that could one day be grown in a lab, rather than manufactured on an assembly line or in a high-tech workshop. It’s an organic, hybrid vehicle that, while not actually grown from seeds (at least not yet), could very well incorporate “grown” and “nurtured” components (bio-fiber) into its overall design. Is this car truly possible in the real world? Time, and the advance of technology, will tell.

5. 2025 Bugatti Aerolithe Concept

This Bugatti concept vehicle is a contemporary version of the original Aerolithe, which was first given its public debut decades ago. This modern take on a classic design is similar in appearance to the pre-Christopher Nolan-era Batmobile driven by the likes of Michael Keaton and George Clooney. The car’s flowing lines and aeronautical exterior might be a signal of the types of cars we can expect to drive in the future—assuming, of course, we can afford these pieces of high-tech motorized art.

This may be the most beautiful love song you’ll ever hear.

An 86-year-old Utah man in the hospital battling a blood infection wanted to show his wife of 66 years how much he loved her, so he decided to belt out a touching version of ‘You Are My Sunshine.’

James Pinegar has some moments when the emotions get to him and his wife, Colleen, chimes in with him in this unbelievably heartwarming video, which was shot back in February.

The story has a happy ending, too: James managed to bounce back and is in good health today.

We don’t really know what “Prancercise” is, and even after watching this hilarious video of a Thor cosplayer doing it, we’re still not sure. But watching the God of Thunder do silly exercises in public is hilarious.

Ryan Frye is a cosplayer who looks almost exactly like Thor. So much so, that he’s made that his cosplay mainstay and has a YouTube channel called EveryDayThor. In EveryDayThor, we get to watch Thor do, well, everyday human people things. He eats, he talks about movies, he dances with Spider-Man and he goes on carousel rides.

In his latest video, Thor enters the world of fitness and teaches us about Prancercise, which is apparently where you whimsically prance around in public and somehow this makes you fit.

Ever wonder where the money you donate to charity goes?

You’re not alone.

The Center for Investigative Reporting and the Tampa Bay Times checked out the tax records of 6,000 charities to find the 50 worst at giving donations to the ones who need them.

The worst was Kids Wish Network. This group raised nearly $128 million over the last decade, with nearly $110 million going to corporate solicitors and fundraisers. All told, only about 2.5% went to the kids the organization claims to help.

Here’s a look at the 10 worst charities, along with the percentage of donations that actually went to those in need:

1. Kids Wish Network – 2.5%
2. Cancer Fund of America – 0.9%
3. Children’s Wish Foundation International – 10.8%
4. American Breast Cancer Foundation – 5.3%
5. Firefighters Charitable Foundation – 8.4%

By now, we all know the reality show drill: a wannabe who doesn’t look like he or she can sing a lick comes out and blows everyone out of the water.

Travis Pratt became the latest to pull that one off, but he added a unique twist.

The Georgia man showed off his opera skills when he performed an unforgettable version of ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’ on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ He said he sings to his girlfriend around the house and she encouraged him to try out for the NBC show.

Pratt got a standing ovation, but the real highlight came when he decided to pop the question to his girlfriend, who had tagged along with him.

He advanced to the next round and got engaged — not a bad night, wouldn’t you say?

Funny story: Someone in our office suggested that we do Cheryl for crush today, and I googled Paula Cole. It was a confusing couple of minutes for all of us, but we’ve reached some clarity: This woman did not sing the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ theme song.

That makes WAY more sense.

Cheryl is a 29-year-old British singer-songwriter, dancer and model who first came on the scene in 2002, when she became a member of the all-girl group ‘Girls Aloud,’ after auditioning for ‘Popstars: The Rivals,’ on British TV.

She released six platinum albums, 20 top-ten singles, four number one singles, and earned five BRIT Award nominations with the group, before they disbanded in 2009, marking the beginning of her solo career.

Her most third and most recent solo album, ‘A Million Lights’ was released last June, and the single ‘Call My Name” became her third number one single.

In her modeling career, she’s been featured on the covers of British Vogue, Elle, and Harpers Bazaar. She was also a host on Britain’s ‘The X Factor’ from 2008-2011, when she transferred over to the American version, and was promptly sacked.

She was married to British football player Ashley Cole until 2010. So you’re saying there’s a chance?
