Vermilion Catholic Names Brady Thomas Head Coach
Former Ragin' Cajun quarterback and current Louisiana graduate assistant Brady Thomas will take over as the head football coach at Vermilion Catholic. Thomas summed up his feelings about the job in two simple words, telling Acadiana Postgame Friday morning, "I'm excited".
The native Texan pointed to the Abbeville community as a major selling point on his decision to pursue the job. "Everything everybody has told me about the community and the people was just how supportive the community is." Thomas said, adding "everyone is willing to help out each other, that was the biggest factor for me."
Thomas replaces Ossie Blaze who took over the Screamin' Eagle program after Russel Kuhns left early in the summer.
Don't expect much to change offensively for VC as Thomas intends to keep the spread offense that has been responsible for much of the Screamin' Eagles success. Thomas also has a previous relationship with current Vermilion Catholic defensive coordinator Kevin Fouquier, Fouquier was the DC at UL when Thomas played quarterback for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Louisiana plays Saturday at ULM and a win by the Ragin' Cajuns will extend the football season with a likely bowl game in New Orleans. But he doesn't expect an additional game for the Ragin' Cajuns to impact his new duties at VC.
