The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns jumped out to a double digit lead before a national television audience in the first half, but UT Arlington used a 12-2 run to get back in the game and then went on a 15-1 run early in the second half to run away from the Cajuns, 84-69 before 4,138 at the CAJUNDOME Saturday afternoon.

Louisiana (13-11, 7-6 Sun Belt) outscored UTA 22-12 over the first eight minutes, but the Mavericks got back into the game limiting the Cajuns to just one field goal over the next five minutes to tie the game on a Brandon Williams layup with 7:58 left in the half.   Louisiana built the lead back up to seven points on two occasions but the Mavericks (13-9, 7-5) drew within two before Jay Wright's jumper at the buzzer gave the Cajuns a 45-41 lead at the half.

But after a Bryce Washington layup stretched the lead to six points, UTA went to work, scoring ten straight points to take the lead for good.  The Cajuns got a free throw from Devonta Walker with 16:12 to go to cut the UTA lead to 51-48, but a jumper by Lonnie McClanahan followed by a three point play by Johnny Hlll stretched the lead to eight points with 15:28 left.  Walker hit a jumper at the 14:57 mark but UTA scored six straight to stretch the lead to 62-50 with 12:05 to go and the Cajuns never got closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Jorge Bilbao scored a career high 18 points on 7-7 shooting from the field.  Hill added 16, going 6-9 and Greg Gainey scored ten.

Washington led the Cajuns with 13 points, while Shawn Long notched his 47th career double double by scoring twelve points with ten rebounds.  But Long was saddled with foul trouble and played just eight minutes in the second half.

After shooting 50% in the first half, the Cajuns could only make 7-25 (28%) after intermission, while UTA shot 56% in the second half.  The Cajuns also shot only 58% from the free throw line and suffered 17 turnovers.

The Cajuns now hit the road for two games next week beginning Thursday when they take on UL Monroe at Fant-Ewing Coliseum
