The domination continues for Team USA in women's basketball.

The Americans cruised to their sixth consecutive gold medal by routing Spain 101-72 Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Americans defeated Spain by 40 points in pool play and expected a tougher game this time around, and, for a time, they got one.

But Team USA dominated the second and third quarters, turning a 21-17 first quarter lead into a 17 point margin at halftime and a 32-point bulge at the end of three quarters.

The US shot 58.6% from the field, including 9-15 from three point range while holding Spain to 39.7%.  The Americans had a huge advantage on the boards, 51-28.

Lindsey Whalen and Diana Taurasi led five Americans in double figures with 17 points each.

Team USA has now won 49 consecutive games at the Olympics.
