Chicago Bears All-Pro middle linebacker Brian Urlacher left the team today to be with his family after hearing the tragic news that his Mother had passed away. Lavoyda Lenard, 51, died in her home.

Urlacher released a statement, saying, ""My mother, Lavoyda, unexpectedly passed away Monday at her home in Texas. My first priority right now is to be with my family as we mourn her loss and make the arrangements to lay her to rest. This is a very difficult and emotional time for us and I sincerely ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you."

Many NFL players have expressed their condolences to Brian Urlacher, including his teammate, quarterback Jay Cutler. "Our thoughts and prayers going out to Brian and his family," tweeted Cutler.

Urlacher's status for Sunday's road game against the Saints is uncertain at this time.

We at Sportsradio ESPN 1420 and espn1420.com would like to express our condolences to the Urlacher family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.
