Simone Fields, a senior member of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajun women's basketball team, has surpassed a career milestone.

After scoring 7 points in last Saturday's 79-55 loss to Toledo, Fields now has 1.003 career scoring points, making her just the 12th women's basketball player in UL history to accomplish the feat.

A native of San Antonio, Fields, a 4-year starter, scored 225 points in her freshman year, and 312 in her sophomore year, before pouring in 535 points last year as a junior.

This season, through three games, Fields has scored 31 points.

Barring injury, Fields should finish her career in the top five in career scoring, as she is only 282 points short of accomplishing that.

In addition, Fields, a Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team selection, has compiled 552 career rebounds, just one short of breaking into the UL top ten in that department.

Fields is all but certain to get that one rebound on Wednesday night, when the Cajuns play host to Dillard in non-conference action at the Cajundome.

Again, barring injury, it's likely that Fields will finish her career with a top five total in that department as well.

Playing with such outstanding players as Keke Veal, Kia Wilridge, and Jaylyn Gordon throughout much of her time at Louisiana, Fields has kind of flown under the radar.

Still, statistics will supply evidence that she is one of the top ten players in program history.

Congratulations Simone!
