Louisiana Ragin' Cajun shortstop DJ Sanders currently leads Sun Belt Conference softball in a number of power number categories.

A junior from Columbus, Mississippi, Sanders has 13 homes runs, 30 runs batted in, and a .936 slugging percentage, to lead the league in all three categories.

A first-team All-Sun Belt Conference pick a season ago, Sanders is on pace to eclipse her power numbers from 2016, in which she hit 18 homers, while driving in 58 runs.

Sanders' teammate, Daniella Chavez, is having a fine first season with Louisiana, ranking second in the conference with 27 RBI's.

Coastal Carolina's Taty Forbes leads the league in hitting, at a .468, while UL's Kassidy Zeringue (.392), Kelli Martinez (.362), and Sanders (.359) all rank in the top ten.

In the pitching department, Texas St.'s Randi Rupp leads the conference in wins (13), ERA. (111), and strikeouts (134).

This weekend, Louisiana will have to face one of the league's top arms, in South Alabama right-hander Devin Brown, who currently has 9 wins, a 1.20 ERA., and 117 strikeouts.

The Cajuns have two pretty good pitchers in their own right, as senior Alex Stewart and freshman Alyssa Denham have combined for a 16-4 record, to go along with a 1.92 ERA.

Offensively, as a team, Louisiana is hitting a .328, with 41 home runs, both of which leads the league.

Pitching-wise, the Cajuns currently sport an overall combined team ERA. of 1.88, which ranks third, behind Texas St. (1.36), and South Alabama (1.77).
